Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida just suffered his first professional MMA loss.
He lost against Oumar “Reug Reug” Kane at ONE Fight Night 13 (August 4). And Reug Reug got the better of Buchecha from the beginning of the fight.
Buchecha was unsuccessful in the majority of his takedown attempts. And Reug Reug was winning the striking exchanges. He was even able to escape Buchecha’s leg entanglement in the very first round.
Furthermore, Buchecha’s every failed takedown attempt was met with a flurry of punches.
Buchecha got a takedown early in the second round, landing on top and dropping some heavy ground and pound on his opponent.
He then went for an Armbar, which Reug Reug managed to defend against and got back to standing. Buchecha went for another takedown attempt, but ended the round on bottom in Closed Guard.
The third round saw Buchecha shooting for a takedown and taking Reug Reug’s back. However, despite having both hooks in, his opponent escaped and got back to standing.
Buchecha then went for another takedown, but ended in bottom Half Guard. Reug Reug, yet again, landed some heavy strikes from there.
The two were stood up after some time because Reug Reug was grabbing the gloves.
Buchecha got one more takedown in the very last minute of the fight. And, even though Reug Reug was defending by grabbing the shorts (for which he was penalized with a yellow card), the fight ended soon after.
Reug Reug got the unanimous decision win and Buchecha suffered his first professional MMA loss.
