Mica Galvao, one of the most exciting young prospects in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, seems to have his eyes set on an MMA career as well!
He’s put on gloves and been training with fellow BJJ black belt and UFC veteran Rodolfo Vieira:

Rodolfo Vieira is not “just” a 5x IBJJF world champion and an ADCC world champion, but he’s also one of the most successful Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes in mixed martial arts.
He’s been competing in the UFC for quite some time now, where he sports a 8-2 record – with seven of those wins being via submission.
So, it goes to show that Vieira will be a fantastic training partner and mentor for Mica Galvao.
He was once in a similar situation as his young training partner is now… As Vieira has transitioned to the professional MMA scene only after he had won the 5 IBJJF World Championships and the ADCC world title.
Though, it’s most likely the case that Mica Galvao will keep competing in BJJ for the foreseeable future – not just in no-gi, but in the gi as well.
Here’s what he had to say about his love for competing in the gi:
As the highest reaching athlete of the new generation, I feel responsible to not let tradition [of competing in the gi] die, nor to be devalued and treated like second division.
I could go over there [and compete in no-gi] and easily make my money too, but I put myself in this responsibility.
