Tyron Woodley has long been set for match up with brazilian jiu-jitsu expert Demian Maia. However Maia, 39, fought Masvidal in May and may be needing time to recover and execute a proper camp.
Some reports mentioned late Autumn and even 2018 dates. But current welter weight champion Tyron Woodley isn’t having it:
“If you want a showdown with me, you have to meet me July 29, that’s the date,” Woodley told Maia on the latest edition of UFC Tonight, per Damon Martin of FOX Sports. “The challenger can’t pick the date. You want my belt. So therefore I accept the challenge July 29. If you want to get it on, let’s do it, sign the paperwork.
“You don’t need a vacation. You just had a three-round grappling match. You didn’t get hardly hit. Let’s get it on.”

Still Maia, who is currently on a 7 fight wining spree isn’t rushing to agree.
“He wanted to fight in 2018 from the looks of it but I can’t wait that long. July 29 is a great date for me with the belt, so if you want it, let’s get it.”
Maia has been largely focused on bjj and hasn’t responded yet.
