Garry Tonon’s explosive mma debut was over the weekend at ONE FC. The prestigious Asian promotion shared the spectacle with everyone but nobody anticipated Garry Tonon will be all about the striking and the ground and pound. In fact the grappling phenom hardly attempted takedowns but was just comfortable on his feet.
Here’s how he explains what went on in his debut match up:
I’m always thinking to the future. You know I don’t like to just think about the present like oh here’s my opponent let me try to beat this guy. I’m thinking like oh three to five years from now you know when I’m trying to be the best and fighting for you know the championship like… Well I’m kind of thinking like..
Well I don’t want the first time that I have to test my striking skills or ground-and-pound or whatever the case may be to be when I need it like let me test it now while I have the opportunity well I’m not really getting hit so let me try to hit the guy this is what I’m not used to doing let me practice this more instead of all right let me end the fight the way I already know how.
That was the most insane experience I've ever had in my life! Wow. I had a lot of fun, but fighting MMA is the craziest thing I've ever done by a factor of 10.

Tonon also dropped “The People’s Elbow” following the bout’s conclusion. According to Tonon’s coach he’ll be taking a little deserved vacation in Thailand following the bout:
Mr Tonon will stay in Bangkok a few days to enjoy a well deserved rest after a very arduous camp.
