While Demian Maia is holding out hope that he’ll be the one to dethrone Tyron Woodley he’s in for a wait.
Tyron Woodley tied with Stephen Wonderboy Thompson making the rematch in terms of many UFC officials “the next logical step”.
But Maia still hopes he’ll get to throw his hat in the ring for the welterweight title.
While he’s waiting for his shot he revealed he was offered a fight against Robbie Lawler.
“The offered me Robbie Lawler.” Maia continued ” I don’t understand what’s happening because then I said right after the fight that I could, you know I was annexed I could wait if they did the Woodley Wonderboy. Wait, sit and wait or get another fight so you know I don’t understand what’s happening and I believe in Dana’s word. Also Cowboy’s asked to fight me so first of all they need to do the rematch.”
Maia seems a little off put by UFC’s treatment of him:
“If they really want to do the rematch ok we can think about another fight but you know if I’ll fight again it would be great to find myself on the same card as Wonderboy and Woodley because maybe somebody gets hurt and I can jump in or even if nobody gets hurt you know we’re in the same cycle. “
