Bruno Malfacine is 9x IBJJF World Champion. On top of that he’s been prepping to venture into mma for quite some time.

In May of last year he announced:

Very happy to finally be able to share this great news with you guys!! I started to make my transition to the MMA, and the coolest is that the whole transition process is being recorded by
Mixer and you can see everything in the series.
I can’t wait to debut in the octagon and represent very well our jiu jitsu.

I’m so happy that I can finally share with all of you guys this great news. I’m making my transition to MMA. The coolest part about it is that everything is being documented by MIXER and you will be able to see everything on the up coming series.
Can’t wait to be in action in the octagon and represent our Jiu Jitsu really well.
More details soon!

Since then he had a successful first bout as a part of Shooto Brazil 74.

A series will also depict his transitional journey and it will be focused on both him and Rodolfo Vieira.

Now we have a final date set.

Malfacine signed with Brave Combat Federation and will make promotional debut against a yet-to-be-announced opponent at Brave 11, scheduled for April 13 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Farah Hannoun first reported the news.

Brave president Mohammed Shahid commented to MMAfighting regarding the signing:

“Bruno Malfacine is a legend, one of the all-time greatest jiu-jitsu athletes and we are very excited for having him in a multi-fight deal. Brave’s main purpose is to serve as a global platform for fighters and that’s how Bruno can prove he’s able to achieve as much as he did in jiu-jitsu as an MMA fighter.”

Malfacine has his sight set on UFC:

”My goal is to get to the UFC,” Malfacine said. “When I decided to fight MMA I decided to be the best, as I did in jiu-jitsu. I’m not in MMA to be just one more guy. Of course that I want to enter the UFC, but I want to be ready to make history when I get there. I’m not in a hurry. I’m not doing this for status or money, I’m doing this for the challenge, to become the best in the world.”
