Abdelaziz is a convicted felon and would have to state as much on the application form. As first reported last year by realfightstories.com, Abdel Aziz was incarcerated for 16 months for check and passport fraud in Colorado from 2001 until 2003 when he was released into FBI-NYPD Intelligence Division custody to become a paid confidential informant against a violent Muslim sect he was a member of prior to his arrest.
Further they uncovered:
“NYPD oversaw Abdel Aziz ‘s parole from 2003 until he was cut loose from the CI program in 2010 after the department lost trust in him due to what one former detective termed, “his constant lies and deception of what he was doing.”

Magalhaes is familiar with Abdelaziz from his time as World Series of Fighting fighter while Abdelaziz was a matchmaker and had a bigger role in the organization. In fact the two even briefly beefed. However they’ve reconciled since:
