(Video) Do You Even Benchpress Escape From Side Control Bro?

The infamous benchpress escape is a popular move (you can’t really call it a technique) among beginners but it is also sometimes used by advanced BJJ players.

The problem with this move is that it may work against smaller opponents but once you are faced with a same sized or bigger opponent, the move becomes very difficult to pull off.

An experienced opponent will counter the move by switching the hips or going to knee on belly.

A more effective side control escape, would be to frame then escaping your hips.
