Thailand saw the 2003 ADCC champion and MMA fighter Jon Olav Einemo (who had beaten Roger Gracie) and PRIDE fighter Sergey Kharitonov enter a regional BJJ competition in Thailand back in 2011 in the elite division (brown and black belts).

Jon Olav can be considered an elite grappler while Kharitonov has a solid Sambo background and of course a ton of MMA experience at the highest level.

Olav faced Dimitrios Tsitos (Greek black belt) then in the final faced the USA’s Dan Simmler. Kharitonov faced Andy Wand then met Dan Simmler.
