This was a really interesting tournament that happened in 2008. The fights were conducted under modified Sambo Rules (if you go to the ground there and there is no submission within a time limit, they stand the competitors up).
Both martials arts have their own specialities: The Russian Sambo Team had great throws takedowns and footlocks and the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Team showed smooth transitions and some impressive finishes. There were also some incidents such as a sambo guy slamming a bjj guy when caught in a triangle choke. Or the sambo guy standing back up all the time to avoid the ground…
The last match between a Russian Sambo Champion and BJJ black belt Ricky Migliarese is the best. Enjoy:
