Rodrigo Artilheiro Defeats Jeff Monson in ADCC Superfight In North Carolina

 

 

At 43 years old, MMA veteran Jeff Monson had no answer for the determined ground game of Rodrigo Artilheiro.

Rodrigo Artilheiro is a Black Belt in Judo and a Pan American Games medalist, a wrestling Olympian for Brazil, and a Black Belt in BJJ under Carlson Gracie and Amaury Bitteti. He is most recently known for his role as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter Brazil for the Team Belfort and full time MMA coach at Brian Stann’s Warrior Legion Gym in GA.

In a ADCC superfight in North Carolina, last Saturday (12th of July), the BJJ black belt Artilheiro defeated Monson on points and added another major accomplishment to his career.

“We spent five minutes studying each other, and then it got more intense, and he tried to take me down with a hip throw. then, I was able to counter, pass the guard and go to the back. I put the hooks and tried to choke, but he was defending” I’m ‘stoked’! I really want to represent the United States at the next ADCC in Brazil. I trained a lot with Amaury (Bitetti) and Vinny (Bigfoot) for this fight. “
