This year was the first time that the UAE Jiu-jitsu Federation had the Masters Black Belt Division of the World Professional Jiu-jitsu Championship attracting top talent from all over the world, during which UAE based blackbelt Marcos Oliveira who is also the founder of Abu Dhabi Top Team and Ready Fight Gear won gold in his weight category and in the absolute of the Masters 1 Black Belt division.
Marcos who is good friends with Rodolfo Vieira and has been his training partner since he was a blue in Brazil stated:
“Rodolfo Vieira has always believed in my stand up game plan for Gi and NoGi and always when we have the chance we train together and this has been since we were blue belts all the way to black. We became great friends and it has been my honour to follow his career in to becoming one of the worlds best and most formidable fighters.”
One of the top names in the academy in Abu Dhabi, Marcos, who lives with his wife Carol DeLazzer and their son, born in the city, also spoke to Tatame about the project in the UAE capital.
“With this change for Abu Dhabi, we are continuing our sporting history, both in Jiu-Jitsu, as in judo and MMA. We aim to form a generation of kids here in the Emirates, living with these names can form a strong generation of fighters here, “
