From Secret Service to BJJ Black Belt, Meet Carl Agnelli

 

BJJ has practitioners from all types of backgrounds.

Carl Agnelli spent 25 years as a Secret Service Agent and was appointed to Presidential Security Detail during the mid to late 90’s and early 2000’s.

Carl Agnelli is a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Jamie Cruz. Carl has won numerous medals at grappling and BJJ tournaments throughout the Northeast.

As a Federal Law Enforcement Agent for nearly twenty five years, he has held numerous high level assignments including serving as the agent in charge of a major northeast field division. He he was responsible for the personal protection of Presidents William Clinton and G.W. Bush.

In addition, he served as the Team Leader for the President’s elite Counter Assault Team and was responsible for overseeing all tactical operations on assignments throughout the world. While assigned to the agency’s training academy in Maryland, Carl served as a supervisory instructor over both the Special Operations and Physical Training sections and was responsible for creating and implementing both tactical and physical training programs for the agency.

In this video, we learn about his life as a child and young adult in Buffalo, NY, his high school and college football career, starting a family and having a work/life balance as a Secret Service Agent and Jiu-Jitsu student. We also discuss what his thoughts are on teaching, why it is important and his journey to becoming a black belt!
