After Losing Leg in Motorcycle Accident, BJJ Champion Makes Winning Comeback

FightinglifestyleUAE up with CBPJJ ambassador and fighter Elcirley Silva during his visit to the UAE.

Elcirley Silva talks about his incredible Jiu-jitsu journey which started with a tragic biking accident that caused the BJJ practitioner to loose his leg.

He talks about how instead of feeling sorry for himself, he continued training Jiu-Jitsu and the training helped him to keep his spirits up and regain the will to live.

Since then Silva has conquered every obstacle that came his way, which inevitably led him to win Bronze at one of the largest stages for Jiu-jitsu today, the World Professional Jiu-jitsu Championships 2015 in Abu Dhabi.

Elcirley who in collaboration with Pride FC Dubai aims to help develop a program that will cater towards helping people who have special needs through the Art of Jiu-jitsu.

Elcirley stated:

“CBPJJ has an interesting platform that invites fighters with special needs from all over Brazil to come and compete. When I first started competing at the CBPJJ in Brazil I noticed, fighters were on wheel chairs, fighters who were blind & fighters with out arms. I thought to my self why is it that I can’t fight with out one leg. In CBPJJ we do not like to use the word “disabled”. A person disabled is a person disabled. A person disabled can not fight where as a person with special needs can fight. CBPJJ has showed the whole world that a person with special needs is not a person who is disabled. My experience has showed that Jiu-jitsu is for everyone.”
