2016 Pan: Saulo Ribeiro’s Come From Behind Win vs Roberto Godoi

 

Saulo Ribeiro and Roberto Godoi have been facing each other in the finals of every single Pan and World Master for the past 5 years. Saulo has won every encountering very close matches. Both competitors have excellent stand up gams and have big pressure games on the ground. This year the two met once again in the finals, and Godoi scored first with a sweep. Saulo had to dig deep and pull out a last second sweep to win the crown.

Saulo Ribeiro, brother of the equally famed Xande Ribeiro, is a 5th degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. After earning a black belt in Judo, he began his training of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Rio de Janeiro under Royler Gracie, the son of Hélio Gracie, at the famous Gracie Humaitá.

Saulo received his black belt in BJJ on November 27, 1995. Less than 2 years later, he won his first MMA fight. He also won the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship five times, in an equal amount of varying weight classes.
