World Champ Trains 4x /Week: ‘Full Time Grapplers Lack Social Skills’

This Team Atos brown belt is a killer – Rolando Samson is a Jiu-Jitsu competitor and a full-time college student. Known for his explosive style and finishing mind set, Rolando took the Light-Weight Purple Belt Division in stellar fashion by winning gold in numerous prestigious IBJJF and WPJJC Tournaments.

As a full time college stunt, Rolando Samson has proven he can balance the fine line of training and studies. A perfect role model for all children in the Jiu-Jitsu scene, showing that a balance of education and mat time can bring in results similar to those who only train full-time, which makes his wins that much more impressive!

Check out this great documentary about Rolando, which shows that you don’t need to train full time to be a BJJ world Champion. Rolando trains 3-4 x a week and for him it’s important to a have a balanced life.

Rolando stated:

I train just 4x a week and go to college full time. A lot of guys that train full time can’t talk. They’re not social. They just train all day. They just see Jiu-Jitsu. When you go to school your mind opens up.
