Buchecha: No Problem Facing Rodolfo in BJJ but Never in MMA

Marcus Buchecha says he would not accept to face Rodolfo Vieira face in MMA and reveals why…

It is no secret that Marcus Buchecha and Rodolfo Vieira have been putting aside the Gi for the past months and been training their striking in preparation for MMA. The two Jiu-Jitsu stars who have a great rivalry on the mats, can, who knows in the future, transfer this competition for the cages of MMA.

3x world champ Marcus Buchecha- who has said he wants to test himself  in mixed martial arts – revealed that he would not accept to face Rodolfo in an MMA fight. Despite the rivalry, the two nourish a solid friendship.

He told Tatame about his reasons:

“I wouldn’t want this MMA fight (against Rodolfo). It’s too bad fight with guys that I like, and this happens a lot in Jiu-Jitsu. I have faced many friends lately. However, Jiu-Jitsu, the matches can even be hard, but whatever the outcome, no one gets hurt – with rare exceptions. In MMA, it is different. I would not want to have this fight with Rodolfo. So if I were offered this fight in MMA, I would not accept “

Buchecha has been training sporadically with various MMA gyms.

“In fact, I try to train a bit everywhere I go. I try to learn, and the guys in MMA like to teach me. I have to take advantage of it (laughs). I trained at AKA few weeks ago, with Luke (Rockhold), Cain Velasquez and Cormier. I did a sparring with them. Now, I trained a little with Marlon (Moraes, WSOF champion) here in New Jersey . I have lived here in the past. We worked in the same gym and we have a very good relationshi.”

About if his striking has improved:

“It’s hard to talk about it. There is so much involved in training for MMA, a lot to think about. It’s a very complex training, completely different from Jiu-Jitsu. ButI like a lot.”

“I will definitely have an MMA fight. I just have to find out how. If I take the feel of it, I’ll move on. It will depend on how things happen in my Jiu-Jitsu  career. I still have a lot to gain. But I want to do this MMA fight, yes, to know how I’m going. “he said.
