1. Hi Professor Marcus, can you please introduce yourself to the BJJ Community of Eastern Europe?
My name is Marcus Vinicius Di Lucia, head coach and owner of Beverly Hills Jiu-Jitsu Club.
I’m 5th degree in BJJ, black belt in Judo and I have a degree in Physical Education.
Pan Am Champion, 2x International master/senior Champion plus one Silver medal, I won a BJJ X Sambo Challenge in Russia…48 years old, live in Los Angeles, California.
2. Please guide us through your Jiu-Jitsu journey and how you ended up teaching Jiu-Jitsu in Beverly Hills.
I do Judo since 5 years old and when I went to College in Rio-Brazil I met BJJ guys who encouraged me to do it. I went to Kioto Academy to learn from Master Mansur and I never stopped training since then…
3. Please tell us about your academy, Beverly Hills Jiu-Jitsu club
My long time friend Joe Moreira had moved to California and in 1997 he invited me to teach at BHJJC. Two years later I took over the gym. This month I’ll open a gym in St Petersburg, Russia.
The Idea since day one was to bring the top fighters from different styles to teach at the same place. Now, the main program is BJJ.
We are open for all kind people with different goals in BJJ. Competition, self defense, workout, MMA,…
We have regular people, kids, pro fighters, professionals and celebrities that train all the time.
4. Who are celebrities that you trained? Who are the ones that have stuck with Jiu-Jitsu, and attained a good level?
Vin Diesel, Guy Ritchie, Jason Stathan, Mark Pellegrino, Scottie Thompson, …
Scott Caan and Jeremy Jackson are training hard and doing very well.
Scott is brown belt and Jeremy is blue and he won many tournaments.
Guy trains with Renzo Gracie, visit me in LA, and he is brown belt.
5. Please tell us about your master Francisco Mansur, BJJ red belt
Master Mansur has learned straight from GM Helio Gracie!!! He’s an amazing teacher and a “Big Father” for us. I’m blessed to have him as a mentor.
6. You have conducted some seminars in Russia and met Aleksandr Karelin. What did he think about BJJ?
I just asked my friends from Novosimbirsk to meet him and he show up in the middle of my seminar for few minutes and also took a picture with us. He didn’t say anything about BJJ…
just looked…
7. If you want to thank somebody or sponsors, feel free
Thank you all the friends and trainers who open the doors at their dojos for me. Thanks everyone who attended the seminars.
Thanks GRIPS, GREEN HILL, my family and my students.
