After having competed as heavyweight (94,3 kgs) for the past few years, Rodolfo Vieira is to leaving for an even greater challenge. The GFTeam has just told tatame, that he will compete at the 2014 Worlds at super heavy (-100kgs). Rodolfo, however, is aware that he will not have an easy time in the new category. In addition to facing athletes who he doesn’t normally face, he will have much bigger and stronger opponents. He said:

“I was about to fight super heavy this year, but it ended up not happening. It was very hard to lose weight, I have to do a lot of diet, eating little. It disturbed me in the absolute. I fight at heavy since I was 16, so it is natural that I now have more difficulties, “he said.

“I weigh 98 kg usually when I’m training. On weekends, I get to 100 kg, 101 kg. What worries me is that guys are much bigger than me, but I think I’ll do well. Will be better, “he commented.

This confirms what Rodolfo’s coach Julio Cesar told Jiu-Jitsu style magazine last week, about the GFTeam star making a special strategy to beat Buchecha:

“Rodolfo has always trained to improve everyday, just like everyone who trains jiu jitsu,” explains Cesar. “Rodolfo never trained for a specific competitor, but just trained to improve. Now, for the first time, Rodolfo is working on a specific game plan to beat Buchecha.”
