Lachlan Giles Shows How He Heel Hooked Bigger & Stronger Opponents at ADCC

They say that heel hooks are the great equalizer. Well Lachlan Giles certainly proved that at the last ADCC.

Lachlan Giles is an Australian first degree BJJ black belt under John Simon. Last weekend, he became the first ever Australian to medal at the prestigious ADCC tournament when he took the bronze medal in the absolute.

This was even more impressive when one takes into account that Giles is only 5ft5 tall and weighs 77kgs. Giles shocked the world when he submitted 3 world class heavyweights (Kaynan Duarte, Patrick Gaudio and Mahamed Aly) all by heel hook.

Giles is also a 2017 NoGi Worlds Bronze Medallist, and multiple time Pan Pacifica and Victorian Jiu Jitsu Champion.

He also recently made a big impression when he competed at Kinektic Invitational 1 2019, a five vs five grappling event just like o Quintet where he single handedly submitted the entire team, submitting them all. He had 4 heel hooks and 1 armbar.

Lachlan also has a PhD and works as a physiotherapist.

Here he shows how he heel hooked his way to victory at ADCC:
