Two males tried to rob a young woman in Acailandia, Brazil, by approaching her and demanding she hand over her phone.

Unfortunately for them, that woman happened to be UFC fighter Monique Bastos, the wrong female to rob on the streets of Acailandia, Brazil.

MMAfighting.com’s Guilherme Cruz spoke with Brazilian MMA straweight fighter Monique Bastos after she apprehended one of her robbers with an inverted triangle choke. Bastos told Cruz:

“I was going to my jiu-jitsu training when they arrived on a motorcycle and said they wanted our phones. I tried to hold my phone, and I realized they were not armed. When they tried to escape, I lifted the rear wheel of the bike and they fell on the ground. The guy who took my phone ran away, but I was able to get the other one.”

Bastos  has six professional MMA fights on her record and is a jiu-jitsu blue belt. She caught the robber in a rear naked choke, then transitioned to a inverted triangle choke while waiting for the police to arrive.
