Scott Savage, 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt who owns and operates a BJJ school “Scott Savage Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu” in Los Banos (California), has been a victim of a knife attack last Monday night.
Savage was brutally assaulted by a surprise attack from behind with a knife in his school, sustaining multiple stabbing injuries to his neck and torso.
This left him in a critical condition and needing medivac helicopter transport to the hospital.
According to one of the Reddit threads, Savage was attacked by his own student:
I know the guy who stabbed him trained with him recently as a week ago.
It’s completely out of character for him to do something like this.Yeah he was weird in the sense that some guys that do BJJ are different.
Anti social but held a conversation and definitely held his own on the mat.I heard he trained at the gym I’m not sure he was “disgruntled”, honestly first thing I thought was mental illness but everyone throws that around like candy.
Savage is reported to be in stable condition and expected to make it through.
The perpetrator has been caught as well.
Officers arrested 25-year-old Reginald Scott Grimes Jr. after witnesses identified him as the suspect.
Given that Savage’s sole income was through the operation of the school, it’s now necessary for the BJJ community to come around and help him
There’s a GoFundMe link through which you may donate (or share) if you want to help.
