After being fired by the UFC , Vinny Magalhaes turned his attention to the defense of his title in ADCC . However, the Rio de Janeiro native, didn’t perform well in the world’s biggest Grappling tournament and was eliminated by Jared Dopp, a high level purple belt under Rafael Lovato.

After the frustrations of defeat, Vinny is not the kind of fighter who is shaken by failure. On the contrary, he is always willing to retrace the path to victory, however hard it may seem.

In an interview with tatame, the black belt said that he plans to get back on track up once more and return to the UFC:

“Now, I’ll start from scratch again. I’m looking for fights, but do not want to be stuck in long term contracts now. I do not want that. I want to do as I did when I was cut for the first time: add a lot of fights and come back for a big event, even the UFC. If I sign a contract with any organization, coming off two losses, they will not pay the price that I think I deserve. After I fix my record, I’m going back to thinking big, “he explained.

Vinny was fired by Dana White after suffering a kick knockout to veteran Anthony Perosh, 42 at UFC Rio 4. It was the second straight defeat for the Brazilian, who had lost to Phil Davis in April.
