The 2015 European Jiu-Jitsu championship which was held in Lisbon, Portugal – crowned many champions, but 2 stole the show. One was André Galvão and for the women’s: Gabi Garcia. Both won double gold.

After winning the medium heavy weight class, the Atos black belt overcame Igor Silva in the absolute final and climbed the highest place on the podium for the second time.

After his victories, Galvão turned to social networks to show his happiness and show some thanks. Religious, he attributed the successes to God, but took the opportunity to remember friends and foes:

“Thanks God, everything worked well today . Today I fought the Europeans Open Weight – 4 fights/4 subs. I’m feeling really good and ready for it. I’m in the finals of the open weight against Igor Silva. Before the open weight finals I will be competing on my weight class at 1:30pm.
Did you guys see that crowd behind me? They were all cheering for me during my fights I really appreciate that guys. I love it. It gives me .
Now time to rest because tomorrow we have some more work to do.”

She had already warned that her performance on the mat would be different in 2015. Said and done.. Gabi Garcia – sometimes criticized for always fighting the same way, Gabi’s strategy was to pull guard in her matches (unless her opponents pulled first).

The black belt from Alliance beat all five opponents by submission. Satisfied with her performance, which earned her the gold in weight and absolute, Gabi evaluated her participation in the tournament.

The champ wrote on her facebook:

“I made a different game than my usual. My head (mental state) was good, I went through bad times in one fight time (against Mackenzie Dern) and kept calm. I fought hurt, but I managed to stay focused and not feel the unbearable pain in my knee. I thank God for this day, ”
