UFC legend Wanderlei Silva’s long-awaited boxing debut ended in chaos, violence, and controversy during Spaten Fight Night 2 in São Paulo, Brazil.
Silva stepped into the ring against former WBO and WBA world champion Acelino Freitas, trading MMA gloves for eight-ounce boxing gloves in what was billed as a special attraction for fans.
But the contest quickly went off the rails.
The fight was marred by repeated fouls from Silva. After ignoring the referee’s instructions to separate during a clinch, he was deducted a point.
Moments later, Silva delivered a blatant headbutt to Freitas, prompting the referee to disqualify him on the spot.
That decision ignited a melee inside the ring.
Both teams stormed in, shoving and throwing punches as the situation escalated.
Amid the chaos, Silva moved toward the crowd, where he was struck in the back of the head.
Seconds later, he was caught with a clean right hand that knocked him out cold.
