During a live stream at the UFC Performance Institute, popular streamer Adin Ross had a humbling encounter with UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev.
Ross, who has trained casually with UFC fighters like Sean O’Malley, attempted to grapple with Makhachev, even trying to secure a rear-naked choke.
However, he made a critical mistake.
Despite receiving technical advice from Makhachev earlier, Ross crossed his feet while controlling the champion’s back.
Makhachev wasted no time exploiting it, applying a textbook ankle lock – and forcing the streamer to submit.
Ross even asked him at one point (showing the lack of understanding of the technique):
How are your legs so strong?
Even though this might have been a remarkable experience for Ross, for Makhachev the session was just another day at the gym.
Check out their sparring session on the video below:
The lightweight champion is deep in preparation for his title defense against Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 311, a fight that could solidify his legacy and even surpass that of his mentor, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
