(WATCH) Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson Grapples With Jon Jones

Elite wrestler and rising MMA prospect Gable Steveson has shared new training footage that offers a look at his preparation – including grappling rounds with legendary UFC champion Jon Jones.

The footage marks another chapter in a growing training relationship between the two.

Steveson previously traveled to train with Jones ahead of UFC 309, where he helped the former champion prepare for his heavyweight title defense against Stipe Miočić.
That camp also included multiple-time ADCC world champion Gordon Ryan, creating one of the most stacked and widely discussed training environments in recent MMA history.

Now, the roles have reversed. With Steveson transitioning fully into MMA, Jones has been returning the favor by helping guide the Olympic gold medalist through the early stages of his professional fighting career.

While Jones has not officially announced his retirement, his competitive future remains uncertain.

At 38 years old, he has not fought since UFC 309, and that bout was just one of two appearances over the past six years.
UFC President Dana White has previously suggested Jones was retired, though fans continue to push for a long-awaited showdown with current heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall.

Steveson, by contrast, is just getting started.

The former Olympic standout made his professional MMA debut at LFA 217, winning in dominant fashion.
Since then, he has improved to 2–0 as a professional, with an additional appearance in Dirty Boxing adding to his combat sports resume.

Next, Steveson is scheduled to face Hugo Lezama at MFL 3 on February 21, 2026.
Lezama brings a veteran record of 11–3, including nine finishes, making him the toughest opponent Steveson has faced so far.
