In a wild and memorable fight not just due to both fighters’ skills – but also because of a referee’s mistake.

Stepping into a new weight class, the Brazilian fighter showcased sharp timing and serious grappling instincts.
With a 7-5 record heading into the bout, Silva was seeking a fresh start in the lighter division – and she found it in just over three minutes.

Claire Lopez, a seasoned striker with an 8-6 record, came in with plenty of experience and the reputation of a tough, scrappy opponent.
Early in the fight, both women exchanged strikes in a classic feeling-out process. But it was Silva who spotted the opening first.

Midway through the round, she jumped on a standing Anaconda Choke.
Lopez tried to tough it out, even tapping once without the referee noticing.

Silva didn’t let up, and with Lopez lifted off the ground and the pressure mounting, a second tap came at 3:17 into the round, this time catching the official’s attention.
