Veteran MMA fighter Eliel dos Santos faced a tumultuous evening at Shooto Brazil 127…
Experiencing a brutal knockout loss in the cage – followed by an unexpected run-in with law enforcement.
The event took place Friday night at the Upper Arena in Rio de Janeiro, where dos Santos squared off against Cleverson Silva in a featherweight match.
The bout ended in devastating fashion late in the first round when Silva dropped dos Santos with a powerful left hand – and followed up with a barrage of punches on the ground.
The referee intervened to save dos Santos, handing him a knockout loss.
And then, as dos Santos was leaving the arena, he was confronted by local police and members of the Brazilian federal police.
According to G1, he was apprehended for failing to comply with legal obligations stemming from a domestic violence case in Amapá.
Authorities reported that dos Santos had violated court orders, including the removal of an electronic ankle monitor, which led to his arrest.
Dos Santos’ legal troubles and dramatic evening have added an unfortunate chapter to his MMA career, overshadowing his 40-fight career in the sport.
