Sinead Kavanagh – a decorated Irish fighter and long-time training partner of Conor McGregor – found herself at the center of a serious legal mess this week, after a violent altercation aboard a Ryanair flight.
What began as disruptive behavior reportedly escalated into a confrontation that left two Civil Guard officers injured and temporarily off duty.
According to airport officials, the incident unfolded around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 24, as the flight crew prepared passengers for takeoff.
Kavanagh allegedly became aggressive and unmanageable, prompting staff to request assistance from Spain’s Civil Guard.
The officers initially boarded the aircraft to remove two passengers, but the situation took a dramatic turn when Kavanagh reportedly refused orders to leave.
Cellphone footage shared with Spanish media shows Kavanagh grappling with a male and female officer as both attempt to restrain her.
Witnesses claim she repeatedly struck the officers while resisting, forcing nearby passengers to plead with her to stop.
The struggle ended only after additional backup arrived, but not before both officers suffered injuries serious enough to require medical leave.
Following her arrest, Kavanagh was transported in a police vehicle to an airport holding facility, escorted by four Civil Guard agents.
She spent the night in custody before appearing in a closed hearing in Telde on Tuesday, November 25.
She was released on bail pending an investigation into charges of assaulting law enforcement and resisting arrest.
