A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt is being praised online after helping restrain a disruptive passenger aboard a Frontier Airlines flight…
Preventing what could have become a much more serious situation.
Video of the incident quickly spread throughout the BJJ community, showing a calm and composed man controlling a passenger whose behavior reportedly forced the aircraft to divert to an alternate airport.
According to community members discussing the incident online, the passenger had allegedly attempted to open an emergency exit while the plane was in the air.
Despite the tense circumstances, the grappler appeared remarkably relaxed throughout the encounter.
Footage showed him calmly maintaining control of the passenger while chewing gum, showing little sign of panic or urgency.
At one point, another passenger instructed him: “We need his hand behind his back”, and he simply adjusted his grip and complied.
Members of the r/BJJ community soon identified the man as Josh, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt who previously trained and competed in Ohio before relocating to Chicago, where he now trains at Valko BJJ:
Josh is an Ohio black belt now in Chicago. He’s a friend of mine. Good dude and he handled this well.
The response from the BJJ community was overwhelmingly positive:
You can see how calm he is too. So calm and collected. Love to see it.
