[WATCH] BJJ Athlete Suffers Horrible Injury After Going To Sleep – And Referee Not Stopping The Match

One grappler narrowly escaped severe injury due to dangerously poor refereeing at a Versus grappling event in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

On Sunday, Sven Groten was trapped in a Triangle-Armbar variation by his opponent, Rene Haendel.
Groten tapped quickly…

But the referee missed the tap and then failed to notice Groten losing consciousness.

Haendel then continued to apply pressure to Groten’s arm while looking at the referee, leading it to pop in a horrible manner.

Only after Groten had been visibly limp for several seconds did the referee finally step in to stop the match.
Check out the incident on the video below:

Following the incident, Groten posted on social media, reassuring everyone that he was alright.
He reported a dislocation but no bone damage – with additional tests pending:

Got choked out and my elbow dislocated. No bone damage, more info to come.
I’m in the hand of the best medical professionals.

here’s absolute no blame on my opponent, you where better yesterday.
I’ll crush you next time we compete. That’s a promise.
