(WATCH) Amanda Mazza Breaks Her Own Arm Attempting The RNC

In one of the rarest and most shocking injuries ever seen in competition, Amanda Mazza broke her own arm while applying a Rear Naked Choke at Cage Fury BJJ 15.

The freak accident, which unfolded during a live broadcast, left both athletes and commentators stunned.

Mazza was in full control of her match against Emily Hansen, securing back control and locking in the choke.
Victory seemed moments away when, without warning, her arm visibly jolted and she was forced to release the hold.

Both fighters looked confused as the referee allowed the match to continue, with no obvious sign of injury at first.

Seconds later, Mazza clutched her arm in pain, signaling that something was seriously wrong.
The referee quickly waved in medical staff while the broadcast team tried to make sense of what had just happened.

Later, Mazza confirmed the grim reality in a social media post – she had fractured her forearm against Hansen’s chin while squeezing the choke.

This type of self-inflicted injury, while extremely unusual, isn’t entirely without precedent in grappling.
Competitors in the past have broken their own limbs attempting submissions like buggy chokes and even damaged ankles during triangles.

Still, the idea of shattering a forearm while attacking the neck highlights an overlooked risk – especially when the choke pressure lands across the jaw instead of under it.
