GFTeam brown belt Victor Silverio received the call to assist Demian Maia in his UFC camp. Silverio has similar characteristics to the Maias next opponent in UFC , Jake Shields . The GFTeam representative gladly answered the call and helped sharpen Maia’s Jiu-Jitsu  for his October 9 UFC fight.

He said in an interview with Tatame:

“It was an amazing. I met a very humble Demian Maia. I went to help and ended up being more helped (laughs). I met Mauricio Shogun and Daniel Sarafian also and did my part training with Demian. His Jiu-Jitsu is even better than what people say. He is so good, has very strong positions, I have not seen anyone to transition so well to MMA. There are many stars of Jiu-Jitsu that fail to put into practice their characteristics in MMA, Demian does it very well.

Silverio came to the camp by invitition of Igor Silva, who referred him to Eduardo Alonso, the manager of Demian Maia, and explained why he was used to simulate the game Shields:

“I think I have a strong all over game, I’m hard to sweep. I have more or less the same weight also Shields, which helps. I’m just 22 years old, and still have much to conquer in Jiu-Jitsu, but I have always wanted to fight MMA. The most important thing is that I opened the door here. “

About Shiels chances against Demian:

“Man, I can not say that there is no chance of him finishing Demian because anything can happen in MMA. But I think the chance is 1% because Demian is very good.”
