Victor Hugo Announces Return To Gi Competition: “The Comeback Is Ready”

Victor Hugo has just revealed a new custom gi featuring his signature Big Man Flow nickname…
Signaling his long-awaited return to gi competition!

As one of the top ultra-heavyweight competitors in the world, Hugo has already won four IBJJF World Championship titles, solidifying his legacy in the sport.
His dominance in the gi was particularly evident from 2021 to 2023, a period where he won his weight class three times and claimed the absolute division once.

Although he initially made a name for himself by winning the IBJJF No-Gi World Championship as a black belt in 2019, his most notable gi performances came later.
After securing double gold at the 2023 IBJJF Worlds, Hugo took on the IBJJF Absolute Grand Prix later that year, submitting his first two opponents before narrowly losing a points decision to Nicholas Meregali in the final.

That was his last appearance in the gi so far, as he shifted his focus entirely to no-gi competition.

Since then, Hugo has been a dominant force in the no-gi scene, competing in superfights for both Who’s Number One and UFC Fight Pass Invitational.
His undefeated run at both promotions included his most recent victory over Nicky Rodriguez at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 10, a rematch that had been building for some time.

And now, with his return to gi competition on the horizon, fans are eager to see how Hugo will perform after spending over a year focused exclusively on no-gi.

What do you think – how will Hugo perform in his return?
