UFC Veteran Phil Baroni Arrested For Allegedly Murdering Girlfriend

Phil Baroni, former UFC fighter, has been arrested in Mexico and charged with homicide for the alleged murder of his girlfriend.

It was Tribuna De La Bahia, a Mexican news outlet, that first reported the news, citing that it was Baroni who called upon law enforcement and told them that his girlfriend was unconscious in their hotel room and needed help.
However, when the police officers came to the hotel room, they’ve discovered a nude woman on a bed – covered in a sheet. She had no vital signs and had bruises to her face and body.

Baroni’s explanation of what happened was that, while smoking marijuana and drinking a beer, his girlfriend revealed to him that she slept with another man. Baroni then demanded her to take a shower, which she refused; so he threw her into the shower, where she fell and hit her head.
He said that he then helped her get back to her feet and to the bed, where she asked him for the bed sheet because she was cold. Then, when Baroni later on returned to the bed, he discovered that she was unconscious and wasn’t able to wake her up.

He was soon arrested by the State Tourist Police and is currently being held by the Municipal Court of Valle De Banderas.

Baroni fought in the UFC from 2001 to 2005. After being released, he competed in PRIDE and Strikeforce, as well as Elite XC; only to return back to the UFC for two more fights – losing both of them.
