UFC Signs Russian Female Fighter With Good Jiu-Jitsu

The UFC has signed Moscow, Russia based bantamweight female fighter Alexandra “Stitch” Albu.  The 1.58m and 61kg Russian, is another attraction in the category of champion Ronda Rousey, which has 14 fighters, including two Brazilian Amanda Nunes and Jessica Andrade.

Despite being a black belt in karate, Albu also has an excellent ground game. See her in action at a recent no-gi tournament in her country.

Albu has competitive experience in karate, Judo, and bodybuildng. Starting with traditional karate, she earned a black belt, and became a Russian national champion, and bronze medalist at the European championship, through the IJKA (International Japan Karate-Do Association. Albu has also won a variety of Judo and grappling events.

Albu’s remarkable strength and conditioning comes through bodybuilding and powerlifting. She was a first prize trophy winner in the Moscow Open Championships, which led to a career in modeling.

She naturally moved from combat and stength sports to mixed martial arts, winning her first four events in Thailand, and the latest in Russia (see below).
