UFC Commentator Laura Sanko Promoted To BJJ Black Belt

UFC color-commentator Laura Sanko has officially earned her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt – a milestone nearly two decades in the making.

The former MMA fighter took to Instagram to share the news, describing the achievement as the culmination of a “19 year journey that is just beginning”.

Sanko, who fought professionally just once back in 2013, secured a second-round rear-naked choke win over Cassie Robb at Invicta FC 4.
Competing as an atomweight, she stepped away from active competition not long after, but clearly never stepped off the mats.

Now 42, Sanko celebrated her black belt promotion with a heartfelt message of gratitude for those who have helped shape her along the way:

Feels amazing to join the black belt club…a 19 year journey that is just beginning.

So many people have played a role in getting me here.
I won’t attempt to name them all, but to all the coaches who poured their knowledge into me and every training partner who swapped blood and sweat with me over the years…

THANK YOU. IYKYK.
