UFC BJJ 8: Mikey Musumeci To Defend UFC BJJ Title Against Kevin Dantzler

Mikey Musumeci has his next title defense locked in, as he prepares to face Kevin Dantzler for the bantamweight belt at UFC BJJ 8 on May 21.

The matchup marks the first time the two competitors will meet, with Dantzler stepping onto one of the biggest stages of his career.
While he has built a reputation on the superfight circuit, this will be his debut against a champion of Musumeci’s caliber at the highest level of the sport.

Musumeci’s path to this point, on the other hand, has been defined by dominance.

Before transitioning into no-gi competition, he established himself as one of the most successful athletes in IBJJF competition.
He then extended that success into his run with ONE Championship, where he went undefeated across six matches and won the flyweight title.

After leaving ONE, Musumeci continued his momentum with a win at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 9, before becoming the inaugural bantamweight champion when the promotion relaunched as UFC BJJ.
Since then, he has defended the belt twice – cementing his position at the top of the division.

Dantzler enters the matchup as a different kind of test.

Known for his unorthodox and dangerous guard game, he has picked up several titles on smaller promotions and holds a notable win over Aljamain Sterling.
However, that victory also drew criticism from MMA fans due to his decision to rely heavily on guard play rather than wrestling exchanges.

More recently, Dantzler experienced a setback, losing his bantamweight title after being submitted by Andrew DeGraff at Finishers: Season’s Beatings in late 2025.

Despite that, he now finds himself with the biggest opportunity of his career – a title shot against one of the most dominant grapplers in the sport today

For Musumeci, it’s another chance to extend his reign.
For Dantzler, it’s a chance to prove he belongs at the very top.
