No matter if you have been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for a bit or for a long while, once you fall in love with it – it gets difficult to stay away from it.
But it can get even tougher to sit out when you have to, because of outside events and uncontrollable circumstances.
So sometimes, some practitioners stop training at that point altogether, simply because they can’t handle the inevitable pain of having to stop for periods of time here and there.
But that is what is to be expected, as Tom DeBlass pointed out in one of his social media posts.
He explained more:
The fact is, most people stop training Jiu-Jitsu before they really see the true beauty of their improvement.
Most people quit competing before they have their hand raised as well.Understand that Jiu-Jitsu is a marathon, not a sprint. Life WILL get in the way. There will be tragic life events that happen, injuries that occur, work, and schedule changes.
So, DeBlass encourages you, in a way, to understand that some things will happen…
That you should realize that – and keep going regardless:
Remember, everyone is dealing with issues, and if you quit you will never give yourself the opportunity to shine like you deserve.
I always say, the only talent I have is the ability to never quit.
Keep going.
