Tom DeBlass Shares Message On Why Fathers Must Prioritize Their Health: “Just Start”

Tom DeBlass recently shared a powerful message directed at men who are married and raising families.

In an Instagram post, the veteran BJJ black belt and coach spoke directly to fathers who often place the needs of everyone else ahead of their own.

According to DeBlass, many men naturally focus on supporting their families, careers, and responsibilities, but neglecting personal health can eventually undermine their ability to do exactly that:

To all my men out there who are married and raising a family, taking care of yourself is extremely important…

I know how hard it is. You put everything before yourself. Your wife. Your children. Your work. Your responsibilities..
But remember something very important. Your health matters most. Because if you are not healthy, you cannot properly take care of the people you love.

A key part of his message was encouraging men not to feel discouraged if they have fallen out of shape or neglected their health for a long time:

Even if you let yourself go and gained 100 pounds, it is never too late. Not ever.

You do not need a New Year’s resolution. You do not need some crazy plan. You do not need the gym seven days a week. You just need to start.
Drink water. Take a brisk 20-minute walk every day. Do some push ups. Do some sit ups. Eat a little better than you did yesterday.

He also highlighted the psychological impact of beginning that journey:

And I promise you this. Once you start seeing those results, you will become addicted to them. Not because of vanity.
Because you will feel alive again.
