Tom DeBlass didn’t mince words when responding to criticism surrounding Tom Hardy’s recent promotion to brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
After some people online speculated whether the Hollywood star truly earned the rank, DeBlass took to Instagram to shut the conversation down:
Some people are such miserable pr*cks.
He’s been training since 2017. He actually has more than enough time to be a black belt. He was a purple belt for 3 years.
DeBlass made it clear that Hardy’s schedule hasn’t been an excuse, even with a demanding acting career:
The dude trains 5 days a week sometimes, even when traveling for filming.
What seemed to strike a nerve most was the implication that DeBlass would attach his name to something undeserved.
For him, that suggestion crossed a line:
You think I’d fly to London to support someone’s journey if they were a fraud?
I barely have enough time in the week, let alone to support bullsh*t.
My reputation is more important than any relationship I may forge.
He traveled to teach, support, and personally witness a promotion he believes was fully earned:
I flew there to teach a seminar and see someone who deserves their promotion as much as anyone I ever met.
He is a 48 year old man that doesn’t turn down a roll.
