Teenage BJJ prodigy Helena Crevar has reached another milestone in her remarkable journey…
By earning her brown belt under the legendary John Danaher!
At just 17 years old, Crevar is now one of the youngest brown belts in the sport’s history.
This promotion comes only three months after Crevar earned her purple belt, marking one of the shortest periods ever spent at that level.
Historically, such rapid advancement would have been impossible under the IBJJF’s traditional time requirements.
However, Crevar’s progression was made possible by recent changes in the organization’s rules designed to reward exceptional competitors.
Now stepping into 2025 as a brown belt, Crevar will have access to even tougher competition at IBJJF events and beyond.
And, while she’s already proven herself capable of beating seasoned black belts, this promotion opens more doors for her in both tournament and superfight circuits.
Crevar shared the news of her promotion via social media:
I’m incredibly grateful to Professor John for this promotion and it’s a privilege to train under his guidance.
In September I was promoted to purple belt after becoming the youngest finalist at ADCC and being a blue belt for two years, and now becoming a 17 year old brown belt feels incredible.
