Famous Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney has revealed that she’s genuinely considering stepping into the boxing ring – not for a role, but for real – following her intense preparation for her new film Christy.
The 28-year-old star, known for her performances in Euphoria and Anyone But You, takes on the role of Christy Martin, one of the most influential female boxers in history.
To embody Martin, Sweeney underwent a dramatic physical transformation, committing fully to learning the craft of boxing and adopting the mindset of a true fighter.
And she has, by all accounts, fallen in love with the sport, as revealed in a recent interview:
There was a moment in the middle of filming where I was like: “Should I give it all up and fight, because I love this?”
Her passion for the sport didn’t go unnoticed – even Christy Martin herself jokingly offered to help Sweeney take the next step:
Christy said she’d sign me up.
So, this isn’t as hypothetical as you think it is.Yeah, I’d totally do a charity bout, that’d be so sick.”
When asked who her potential opponent might be, Sweeney teased:
It’s a surprise – you’ll have to wait. I’m serious.
