Sean Strickland has decided to de-escalate his heated exchange with David Goggins.
The former UFC middleweight champion had initially made some inflammatory remarks about the U.S. Navy SEALs, prompting a challenge from Goggins, who served in the elite military unit.
Goggins proposed that they spend three days training together, as well as accepted the added stipulation by Strickland of three boxing rounds.
But now, in an unexpected turn of events, Strickland has decided to step down from the challenge.
He even issued an apology:
Ok fine…
I’m sorry Goggins, you’re cool, I’m just bored and angry.
You can show up, but if not it’s cool man. You’re a solid runner, you have some cool quotes…
My mental stability is coming back lol.
He further explained the reason behind his frustration:
If I had to be completely honest, I think I’m just bored and angry.
I’m the number one contender, I got to wait for Izzy [Adesanya] and Dricus [Du Plessis] to get my shot.
What does one do?I’m bored and angry. I’m training, I’m in shape, but what does one do?
I’m just bored and angry.
