Claudia Gadelha, head of the UFC Fight Pass Invitational, has sparked excitement by suggesting a potential grappling match between Ronda Rousey and Amanda Nunes under the UFC Jiu-Jitsu rule set.
Rousey, an Olympic bronze medalist in judo, built her MMA legacy with high-level throws and armbar finishes, becoming the first UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.
Nunes, while best known for her devastating striking, also holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, making this an intriguing stylistic matchup in a pure grappling setting.
Their only previous encounter inside the octagon came at UFC 207 in December 2016, where Nunes dominated with a TKO victory in just 48 seconds.
That loss marked the end of Rousey’s MMA career and further cemented Nunes as one of the greatest female fighters of all time.
Here is what Gadelha stated:
I don’t really know what’s going on in Ronda Rousey’s life right now.
I know she has a family now and a lot of other things going on…But for the fans that really love grappling, really love Jiu-Jitsu, really love Judo, how amazing would it be to watch Ronda Rousey and Amanda Nunes going against each other under the UFC Jiu-Jitsu rule set?
