Roger Gracie To Fight MMA in May, No News On Metamoris 7 Match

Roger Gracie announced last year that he was planning to return to Ju-Jitsu competitions in 2016. He faced Rodrigo Comprido Medeiros in a Gi superfight last summer, in which he won in a decisive fashion.

3 weeks ago, the Metamoris organisation announced that Roger Gracie would rematch Marcus Buchecha at an upcoming Metamoris 7 mega event in July.

Reports emerged confirming the rumours that Marcus Buchecha was asking to be paid up front by Metamoris, following the promotion’s history of non payment of athletes.

Metamoris started advertising a match up between Marcus Buchecha and Roger Gracie at a planned Metamoris 7 event, despite the fact that they hadn’t reached an agreement with Buchecha and he hadn’t signed up yet. Sources close to Buchecha said that he was asking for money up front.

Today, Graciemag broke the news that Roger Gracie would take an MMA bout in May at one FC . His last MMA bout was in December 2014 when he defeated James McSweeney by TKO.

Roger Gracie is going to fight Michael Pasternak at One Championship: Ascend to Power, on May 6, in Singapore.

Roger last fought on December 2014, also at One Championship, when he beat James McSweeney with a TKO.

Overal, Roger has a 7-2 MMA record.

Roger’s opponent in Singapore has a 11-0 record, but is also coming back from a long time away from the cage.

Pasternack’s most recent fight was agains Rafael Silva, on December 2014, when he won via unanimous decision.

The fight will be at the welterweight division (185lb).

With the MMA fight being at 185 lbs and the Metamoris event being 2 months after, it now seems improbable that Gracie would recover in time from the stress of preparing from an MMA fight to face the greatest current BJJ competitor , Marcus Buchecha at over 100 kgs, if ever Metamoris were to take place.
