Roberto Jimenez Officially Withdraws From ADCC To Compete At CJI

Roberto Jimenez is officially out of ADCC 2024 – he withdrew in order to compete at the Craig Jones Invitational (CJI)!

The news were confirmed through a post on social media, as Jimenez will compete in the +80kg division:

This way, Jimenez has become yet another competitor who’s made the switch away from the ADCC towards CJI – leaving the former with an increasingly smaller pool of elite athletes to compete this August.

As a reminder, CJI will take place on the same date as ADCC will, which appears to have been an attempt by Craig Jones to showcase a different way that a submission grappling tournament can be ran.

And yes, Jones has a plan to “change the game”:

We will change this game and create an annual event.

If some miss out this year, such as lighter weight men and we really hope not women.
We will eventually create something that takes care of all.

I know everything I put forth is humorous, but if I can’t leave a legacy as an athlete I want to leave on as changing the game for all athletes’ ability to make money.
