Rener Gracie has recently unveiled work on his latest project, Gracie Medical Defense.
Over the past few years, Gracie has focused on modifying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for specific real-world applications, including law enforcement and self-defense.
And, while some of his past ventures, such as the Quikflip backpack and Sleeperhold neck pillows, reached mainstream success – his most recognizable contributions to the BJJ community include the Gracie University platform and the widely used Gracie Combatives course.
For example, one of Rener’s most ambitious projects has been his Gracie Survival Tactics (GST) program, aimed at national police reform.
Designed to improve the effectiveness and safety of law enforcement techniques, GST has been officially approved in the majority of U.S. states.
With that initiative seeing widespread adoption, Rener has now shifted his focus to a related yet distinct area: healthcare professionals.
His latest program, Gracie Medical Defense, is designed to teach safe and effective restraint techniques for medical personnel dealing with combative or uncooperative patients.
The goal is to prevent injuries for both staff and patients while ensuring medical situations remain under control without excessive force.
Rener recently announced the launch of Gracie Medical Defense in a post on his official Instagram account:
