Ralph Gracie Black Belt Sean Roberts Joins Checkmat Ahead Of Metamoris Clash With Zak Maxwell

Ahead of his Metamoris III showdown against Zak Maxwell, Ralph Gracie black belt Sean Roberts has anounced on his Facebook account that he will be reprensenting Checkmat.

Roberts said that the reason for his move was that he had recently moved from North to South California and lacked high quality training partners.

He found those partners training with Lucas Leite, Marcus Buchecha and others Checkmat stars.

From Sean’s facebook:

“I will be representing Checkmat at Metamoris 3 and all major tournaments.

I’m still wearing a Ralph Gracie patch on my back because I am a black belt under Ralph Gracie. Ralph is a very important person in my life.

He is like a father figure to me. I love everyone from Team Ralph Gracie and I will never turn my back on you guys.

My home will always be open for you. Plus I’m still teaching at Ralph Gracie Chino Hills.

My move to Checkmat was very emotional for me. I recently moved back to Southern California and lost a lot of my training partners.

I knew I couldn’t stop training hard just because I moved but it took months before I finally decided that I had to train at Checkmat if I was going to continue my competitive career.

I was very nervous to even ask Lucas Leite, and Leo Vieira if I could join Checkmat. Lucas, and Leo gladly accepted me onto their team.

I’m really starting to feel like I’m at home again everytime I go train at Checkmat.

Starting a new chapter in my life.”
